Melbourne Youth Challenge 2011
Participant Evaluations
Melbourne Participants - August 30 2011

On Tuesday 30 August 2011 the NOTHING BEATS THE REAL THING! Youth Challenge on screen piracy was held at Docklands Studios in Melbourne.
Over 100 students and teachers from 12 schools were informed, entertained and challenged by the varied program, designed to create a greater awareness that, as members of the digital society, their actions actually shape that society.
The mystery guests, Neal Kingston, Producer from "Neighbours" TV Show described the impact of screen piracy on the industry - and on the young people who are trying to enter it whether on the screen or behind the scenes and also Nicol Joy Tan, actress, writer and DJ, enthused the students with anecdotes from her time on "Summer Heights High".
The students were challenged to express their ideas in role plays - and there was great laughter and enjoyment as students presented many entertaining and informative scenarios, usually involving evil pirates, starving actors, brave police, naive young illegal downloaders, and the occasional noisy parrot!
Many students said they would be back next year.
The program is sponsored by the Intellectual Property Awareness Foundation (IPAF).
